THE TOUCH

Nicole Zoet-Oostermeyer will be in Europe from early June until the end of August for a series of private work sessions and clinics.

This year, her program is entirely dedicated to one of the deepest foundations of horsemanship: the touch — the initial connection between horse and human.

Whether you are a trainer, a high-level equestrian athlete, a groom, veterinarian, caretaker, or devoted hobbyist — everyone working with horses knows it exists. The very first contact. The very first touch. The invisible handshake.

“How are you today?”

Yet long before the actual physical touch, long before putting on the halter, before asking anything of the horse, before even stepping into its space, the interaction has already begun. Horse and human are already communicating through presence, awareness, intention, balance, emotion, and observation. By the time the hand finally touches the horse, an entire silent conversation may already have taken place.

Whether we consciously acknowledge it or not, it is always present. It is part of every beginning. And often, it quietly determines everything that follows.

As horse and human continue their journey together — through progress and setbacks, frustrations and victories, trust and uncertainty — something unwritten begins to grow. A bond that cannot entirely be explained through words alone.

There is, indeed, something remarkable in the relationship between a horse and a human being.

The first touch.

By focusing on that essential bedrock of connection, Nicole opens the door to the entire universe of interacting with a horse — all observed from the very first moment onward.

Dear Horsemanship Friends,

YES — I’m truly delighted to travel overseas again and become part of your journeys with your horses. Your plans, your challenges, your hiccups, your achievements, your questions, your breakthroughs… and simply your everyday life with horses.

Over the past weeks, I’ve received so many thoughtful messages that genuinely made me feel welcome already, even before arriving. I’m deeply grateful for that warmth and enthusiasm, and I truly look forward to meeting many of you in person soon.

This year’s program is especially close to my heart, as we will focus on one of the deepest foundations in horsemanship: connection. The first moment. The first awareness. The first touch.

To make communication easy throughout the planning of the sessions and clinics, a dedicated email address has been opened:

Looking forward to seeing you and your horses soon.
